Construction Update for the eastern portion of the QEW Credit River Improvement Project

Construction for the QEW/Credit River Improvement project started in 2020 and a new twin bridge was opened to the full six lanes of traffic in July 2023, while the original bridge was closed for rehabilitation.

Other works on the project have included:

  • Replacement of the Mississauga Road overpass.
  • Reconfiguration of the Mississauga Road interchange to improve traffic flow.
  • Construction of trails and active transportation crossings that connect and expand City of Mississauga trails.

It was anticipated that the project would reach substantial completion on June 26, 2025, with eastbound traffic on the rehabilitated bridge and westbound traffic on the new bridge.

During construction in 2024, Indigenous artifacts were discovered in the area of the QEW lanes on the original bridge, on the eastern edge of the site. Due to the discovery, work at the location has stopped while archaeological investigations are completed.

Work to re-install a noise wall, complete the pedestrian bridge over the QEW and underground stormwater infrastructure will start at a future date. A project update will be provided later in 2025.
