Key components of the proposed improvements include:

  • Construction of a new twin bridge north of the existing Credit River Bridge;
  • Rehabilitation of the existing Credit River Bridge;
  • Widening and improving the QEW;
  • Replacing the Mississauga Road overpass;
  • Improving/reconfiguring the Mississauga Road interchange; and
  • Constructing Active Transportation crossings (and associated trail infrastructure) at the QEW and over the Credit River for the City of Mississauga

EDCO is a joint venture between EllisDon Corporation and Coco Paving Inc. EDCO was selected by The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) and Infrastructure Ontario (IO) to design, build and finance the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project.

Benefits of the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project include:

  • Improvements to the QEW from west of Mississauga Road to Hurontario, including the extension of the East Bound auxiliary lanes from Mississauga Road
  • more effective movement of people and goods, both locally and regionally, within the QEW corridor;
  • preservation of the QEW/Credit River bridge heritage structure; and
EDCO also estimates that approximately 150 workers will be on site during peak construction periods.  With most workers residing in the Greater Toronto Area, local economic benefits and employment opportunities are also anticipated.
