Critical works on the QEW Credit River Improvement Project were completed on schedule last year, including:

  • The new twin bridge, currently carrying both eastbound and westbound QEW traffic lanes;
  • A modernized Mississauga Road interchange and widened overpass;
  • New multi-use recreational trails, including a bridge connecting trails on opposite sides of the Credit River;
  • Stormwater ponds and an upgraded stormwater drainage system; and
  • The rehabilitated historic Credit River Bridge.

During construction in 2024, Indigenous artifacts were discovered in the area of the QEW lanes on the original bridge, on the eastern edge of the site. Due to the discovery, construction at this location stopped to enable archaeological investigations. The investigations will continue into 2026.

Once the investigations are complete, MTO will hire a construction firm to complete the remaining works, including;

  • the North-South pedestrian bridge;
  • underground water infrastructure;
  • re-installation of noise walls; and,
  • open the QEW lanes on the historic bridge plus the eastbound on-ramp to the QEW.

An update will be posted later in 2026.
